Interfaith Support for DACA

LCWR
The Leadership Teams of the Long Island LCWR and their respective Justice Coordinators are collaborating on a response to DACA legislation.  In the coming weeks more information will be sent to LI Congregations and hopefully all parishes inviting participation in an Interfaith Pilgrimage in support of Dreamers and all Immigrants. In rescinding President Obama’s DACA executive order, (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) that gave legal status to undocumented children brought to the United States by their parents, President Trump has given Congress until March of 2018 to enact the Dream Act that would grant legal status to DACA recipients, 10,000 of whom live on Long Island.  The pilgrimage will be led by Long Island faith leaders, who will call upon all members of the Long Island Congressional delegation to support the Dream Act that legalizes DACA young people. Save the date, Sunday, November 12, 2017!
