Sisters in Puerto Rico After Maria

Puerto Rico
Communication with our sisters is still very challenging as phone lines and cell towers are down with the passing of Hurricane Maria. Our vicar of PR, Gloria Cruz, CSJ has been trying to make contact with the sisters in Lajas and Ponce and once roads are clear she hopes to travel to their locations to check on the extent of their damages.
There has been some contact with Rita Hernandez, principal of Academia Maria Reina, and she has reported that there are many downed trees, water damage to the gym floor and window shades have been torn from the building. This past week AMR families and friends organized a clean-up with the hope of resuming a modified schedule of classes this coming Monday. While a generator is able to supply partial power to the campus there is concern about fuel access to keep it up and running.
Our sisters and the AMR community are grateful for all of our prayers and support. We are grateful that all remain safe and await their communication as to how best we can help the recovery.
