In the midst of a happy and satisfied life, there comes an insight that within us there is a desire for something more profound. As our lives seem to be speeding by, we sometimes experience longings that are signals to us of our deep desire for God. There also come moments when we feel a union with nature, the universe, another person, or are moved by the beauty and innocence of a child or a loved pet. These moments touch a deep well of peace and joy within us. There is an awareness of indefinable Mystery. God is near.
May I become more attentive to God’s presence and action in my daily routine.
At the end of the day, ask yourself how God was present and active in your life that day. Reflect for a few moments on such experiences.
When your search me, you will find me, if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me says the Lord.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14
As the deer longs for streams of water, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you…
Define yourself radically as one beloved by God. This is the true self. Every other identity is illusion.
The Creator has not given you a longing to do that which you have no ability to do.
Orison Swett Marden
The continuance of your longing is the continuance of your prayer.
