This is a serious moment in our national history. We must be careful not to trivialize it. To act as if it is not important, to act as if it does not impinge on our lives is not to realize the issues. This is not about one person or one political viewpoint as opposed to another. It is about our national character, our grasp of reality over illusion, our expectation of integrity in leadership, our belief in the use of power for the common good, and our ability to choose truth over expediency. We must listen carefully and evaluate ourselves as much as we evaluate the actions of others. And ultimately if this nation, if we the people will endure, we must choose what we see as right over what we enjoy as comfortable.
Strengthen your people.
Analyze your own reactions as the following days unfold. Try to sort out and choose what is true and consistent. Hold yourself and those who represent you accountable for our national integrity.
Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation.
Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.
Justice is truth in action.
The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.
Robert H. Schuller
The pursuit of truth will set you free; even if you never catch up with it.
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending against all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks.
A sacred respect for the constitutional law is the vital principle, the sustaining energy of a free government.
The Constitution is the guide which I will never abandon.
Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right…and a desire to know.
Government is a trust, and the officers of the government are trustees; and both the trust and the trustees are created for the benefit of the people.
Educate and inform the whole mass of the people… They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.
Democracy is never a final achievement. It is a call to an untiring effort.
John F. Kennedy
The cultural and political landscape of this country has set the bar so low for cultivating any kind of meaningful relationships that we need to relearn what it truly means to interact with each other honorably.
Linda De Graf
