Reflection

There is one divine source, whom many of us call God, with as many images and names that humanity can handle, with a love large enough to encompass everything that has been or will be created, and with enough avenues and paths to accommodate us all. The more multifaceted our awareness, the better we understand that we simply cannot understand it, but can embrace it anyway. The Divine is everywhere, within us and around us, revealing to us through ordinary things the ubiquity of God.
Miriam Therese Winter

Prayer

Where can I go from Your Spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Psalm 139:7

Action

What is your image of God?  How does it fit with what we now know about the cosmos? Try to practice seeing God’s presence everywhere.

God, Who is everywhere, never leaves us. Yet God seems sometimes to be present, sometimes to be absent. If we do not know God well, we do not realize that God may be more present to us when God is absent than when God is present.

I live in the faith that there is a Presence and Power greater than I am that nurtures and supports me in ways I could not even imagine. I know that this Presence is All knowing and All Power and is Always right where I am.

For when one considers the universe, can anyone be so simple-minded as not to believe that the Divine is present in everything, pervading, embracing and penetrating it?
Martin Luther

We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him. He walks everywhere incognito.
S. Lewi

Sometimes we are simply “blown away” and in awe by finding ourselves in the presence of God. Other times, however, even when we are participating in acts of kindness-complimenting others, writing a check to charity, donating time to a good cause-we are oblivious to the miracle of what is happening at that moment.
Harold S. Kushner

We cannot attain the presence of God. We’re already totally in the presence of God. What’s missing is awareness.
