Reflection

How to find a true way of living is not always clear under the layers of misinformation and pressure we meet in daily life. It is not easy to hold firm when we are faced with difficult choices. On what do we base our relationships, our work ethic, our belief systems, our political choices?   Have we made a commitment in sincerity and in faith? Can we live a consistent life ethic?

Our gospel commitment should be reflected in how we live.

Prayer

May I sincerely seek out the truth and to live my life faithfully.

Action

What is my answer to the question: ”Do I really mean it?”

Let no one deceive you with empty words…. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true, and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Ephesians 5:6 -11

Are we ready to be Christians full-time, showing our commitment by word and deed?
Pope Francis

A life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all. No man can serve two masters. Your life is shaped by the end you live for. You are made in the image of what you desire.
Thomas Merton

If you do not plan to live the Christian life totally committed to knowing your God and to walking in obedience to God, then don’t begin, for this is what Christianity is all about. It is a change of citizenship, a change of governments, a change of allegiance. If you have no intention of letting Christ rule your life, then forget Christianity; it is not for you.

Kay Arthur

The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.

Ferdinand Foch

There are only two options regarding commitment. You’re either in or out. There’s no such thing as a life in-between.
Pat Riley

Love is a commitment that will be tested in the most vulnerable areas of spirituality, a commitment that will force you to make some very difficult choices. It is a commitment that demands that you deal with your lust, your greed, your pride, your power, your desire to control, your temper, your patience, and every area of temptation that the Bible clearly talks about. It demands the quality of commitment that Jesus demonstrates in His relationship to us.
Ravi Zacharias

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
Mahatma Gandhi

Commitment is a big part of what I am and what I believe. How committed are you to winning? How committed are you to being a good friend? To being trustworthy?  To being successful? How committed are you to being a good father, a good teammate, a good role model? There’s that moment every morning when you look in the mirror: Are you committed, or are to you not?
LeBron James

Too many Christians have a commitment of convenience. They’ll stay faithful as long as it’s safe and doesn’t involve risk, rejection, or criticism. Instead of standing alone in the face of challenge or temptation, they check to see which way their friends are going.
Charles Stanley

When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible.
Howard Schultz

Commitment is an act, not a word.
Jean-Paul Sartre
