The Resurrection of Jesus in the Gospel According to John

March 2, 2026 - 7:00 pm - March 30, 2027 - 8:15 pm

A five-week minicourse conducted by S. Sandra M. Schneiders, IHM, STD, Santa Clara University, MI
Mondays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30
7–8:15 p.m. EST via Zoom

The presentation of the Resurrection of Jesus in the Gospel of John differs significantly from the accounts of the Resurrection in the Synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. The Fourth Evangelist is concerned, primarily, not with the period immediately following Jesus’ death and terminating with his Ascension into heaven, but with the ongoing presence of the glorified Jesus in, to, and among his disciples and, through them, in all time and space. Thus, it is less the final chapter of the story of the earthly Jesus than the foundation of the paschal spirituality of all disciples throughout history. Thus, it is a primary resource for the spirituality of contemporary believers.
