Through AI we are creating something in our own image, just as we are created in God’s image. But just how much like us is AI? Is it possible for us to have an authentic relationship with an AI? And in what ways will AI programs change our relationship with ourselves, with one another, and with our God?

Noreen Herzfeld, Ph.D., is the director of Benedictine Spirituality and the Environment at St. John’s School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, MN.  She is also a senior research associate at the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies, ZRS Koper, Slovenia.
