National Catholic Sisters Week: March 8th-14th
Our Congregation will join with the over 50,000 women religious in the United States to celebrate service, fidelity and hope for the future by engaging in National Catholic Sisters Week activities. Students and Campus Ministers from the University of Southern California will spend a week living at The Mary Louis Convent and spend their days visiting a variety of religious communities of women to speak with them about their lives, ministries and charisms while doing service at a soup kitchen and the Brentwood organic farm. They will also visit the UN NGO office and learn about the work of religious communities on a global scale and spend some time at Hour Children.
Marie Mackey, CSJ with the help of archivist, Virginia Dowd, has created prayers for National Catholic Sisters Week highlighting Brentwood Sisters of St. Joseph, living and deceased, who have made contributions in areas of science, theology, education, social justice and numerous other disciplines. These will be sent to our CSJ high school Campus Ministers and Principals at the end of February to use for prayer during NCSW so that students and faculty may become more aware of the significant contributions of our sisters.
In addition the St. Joseph Worker Advisory Council is sponsoring an event entitled ‘Pass the Torch’ on Sunday, March 11th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the St. Joseph Worker House. This is an opportunity to recognize sisters unwavering spirit and great work in ministry that has now been passed on to our lay partners. The SJW Advisory Council plans to make this an annual event so that the stories of our sisters can be shared with many. Plan on being a part of this event.
In recognition of National Catholic Sisters Week the St. Joseph Worker Advisory Council cordially invites you to
