Images of immigrant and refugee children detained in cages, separated from family members,
and living in unsanitary, unhealthy conditions have outraged the nation in recent days. The faith
community has decried this treatment of children not only as a violation of human dignity and
rights, but also as contrary to religious teachings and the sacred call to care for all people,
especially those most at risk such as children.
Stop the Inhumanity! Catholic organizations are coordinating a nonviolent campaign to end the
traumatizing abuse of immigrant children and their families by the U.S. government. After a
successful mobilization in Washington, D.C. last month, national organizations are partnering with
local groups from NY and NJ as well as Cardinal Tobin in phase two: a national prayerful direct
action which will take place in Newark, NJ on Wednesday, September 4.
When: Wednesday, September 4, 10am—12pm
Where: Newark, NJ (the specific location is being finalized)

What: Join us for prayer, a call to action by Catholic leaders, and nonviolent civil disobedience, for
those who choose.
