Reflection

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?”
“Here I am,” I said; “send me!”
Isaiah 6:3-8

This is a conscious decision. We accept a process that will change us and change our relationships with everything. Our relationship with God is not a one-time assent. It must be followed by a concrete personal witness which may be difficult. Our attunement to God is a lifetime journey. It requires acceptance of personal change. The God we understood when we began such a journey is not usually the same as the One we understand as the journey continues. As we continue to seek God our insights grow and change. It is the beginning of a deeper spiritual growth, a new consciousness, a change in us that can offer a new relationship to others.

Prayer

Here I am. Send me.

Action

Reflect on the implications for you if you say these words.

God’s love calls us to move beyond fear. We ask God for the courage to put on faith, hope and love as we go out into the world and become the word in body as well as spirit.
Pope Francis

The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth.

You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

We should not ask, “What is wrong with the world?” for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, “What has happened to the salt and light?”
John R. W. Stott

Everybody has a vocation to some form of life-work. However, behind that call (and deeper than any call), everybody has a vocation to be a person to be fully and deeply human in Christ Jesus.

Lord, make my life a window for Your light to shine through and a mirror to reflect Your love to all I meet.

How do you convince a world that God is alive? By God’s aliveness in your life, by God’s work in producing reality in your experience.
Howard G. Hendricks

Christianity is a message about living and can only be expounded by being realized in our lives.
Soren Kierkegaard

God did not direct the call to Isaiah— Isaiah overheard God saying, “. . . who will go for Us?” The call of God is not just for a select few but for everyone. Whether I hear God’s call or not depends on the condition of my ears, and exactly what I hear depends upon my spiritual attitude.
Oswald Chambers
