Reflection
Prayer is the language of seekers. A life centered in God is not acquired by osmosis. One does not find God without looking, becoming aware, and then asking for a depth of understanding. A seeker is intuitive but also active in the search. The consistent habit of prayer opens the door of the God who is unconditional love. A deepening relationship with Holy Mystery is the ultimate response.
Prayer

Psalm 23

In our search for the holy, there are times when our restless preparations smother the very truth for which are searching. We decorate our rooms and make elaborate preparations for our prayer, when a single flower and a moment of waiting are all we need to meed the One Who Comes.

The wish to pray is a prayer in itself.

Our problem is that we assume prayer is something to master the way we master algebra or auto mechanics. That puts us in the “on-top” position, where we are competent and in control. But when praying, we come “underneath,” where we calmly and deliberately surrender control.
