Reflection

We are called by God to be decisive but decisions bring consequences. They challenge us to move into commitments and responses. All commitments involve sacrifice. They impose responsibilities on us; they require an unequivocal “yes.”  Freedom is found in decisiveness while indecisiveness paralyzes and immobilizes us. Decisiveness enables us to focus on where we’re going; indecision or vacillation holds us captive and standing in place. Jesus said to His disciples: “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” We are meant to freely choose to love God and respond to the call to bring truth, life and love into our inner world and into the world around us. We are called to decide to act not on emotions and feelings but rather to choose to follow Christ and act on this decision.

Prayer

The Lord is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold
of my life– of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

Action

Reflect on what prevents you from following your convictions decisively.  What is holding you back? Of what are you afraid?
