LIIC HOSTS NYIC REGIONAL ROUNTABLE

On July 23rd, the Long Island Immigration Clinic hosted the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) 2024 Regional Round Table for the second year in a row.  LIIC is a member of NYIC.

Over 50 immigration advocates from organizations across Long Island participated in this brainstorming meeting to identify the policy issues that NYIC and its membership will be advocating for in the 2025 NYS legislative session.   The  policy areas included were: Healthy Communities; Guaranteed Civil Rights & Building Political Power; Ending State Support for Deportation, Detention & Incarceration; Economic Power & Good Jobs; and Quality Education.

Seven other regional meetings are being held by NYIC across New York State.  Priorities will be tallied and the 5 top ones will become the legislative agenda for next year.
