The light of truth in Jesus is a blinding one: It is not enough to regret evil, he shows us. We must do something, each of us, to denounce it, to deter it so that tomorrow’s dawn may be a brighter one for us all. If the question is, What’s the light of Lent here? The answer is a simple one: The light of Lent is the beacon that enables us to see under the obvious, the systemic, the hypocritical in both state and church to the evil they mask from us. It is the path to integrity, to righteousness, to the Spirit of God.
Joan Chittister, OSB

Prayer

Seek first the reign of God.

Action

Consider what may be the things in your life that are disguised as God.

Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,
as well as the money changers seated there.
He made a whip out of cords
and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
and spilled the coins of the money changers
and overturned their tables,
and to those who sold doves he said,
“Take these out of here,
and stop making God’s house a marketplace.”
John 2:13-25

Let us all remember this: one cannot proclaim the Gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of one’s life.
 Pope Francis

To walk in love with one another not seeking power over others but seeking to serve all in our path is when we will understand what Jesus meant when he taught us to pray “Thy Kingdom come.” It is the kingdom of already here and not yet.
Richard Rohr

The truth is not always the same as the majority decision.
Saint John Pau

The most effective way to preach the gospel is through example. If we live according to our beliefs, people will notice.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I don’t have to listen to the Gospel on Sunday to know the stories of the New Testament. They inform so much of what I write that they’re practically like a news scrim that goes through my brain 24/7.
Anna Quindlen

I would submit to you that our greatest need is to rediscover the gospel of Jesus Christ and to proclaim it. I have always said this, especially to the young missionaries that I have dealt with.
