More than 400,000 people, including many Sisters of St. Joseph, co-ministers, and CSJ school students showed up in the streets of New York on Sunday, Sept. 21st to voice the loudest, strongest, clearest call for action on climate change the world has ever seen. There’s never been a march for climate justice close to that size before. The best part is, the People’s Climate March wasn’t just about New York. There were more than 2,600 events around the world this weekend in over 150 countries. Many CSJs “joined the march” in prayer at St. Joseph’s Convent in Brentwood and at several of our other convents. This weekend was a moment to show that our movements are growing globally.

On Tuesday (9/23), when 125 heads of state gather to talk about the climate crisis, they’ll be doing it with our voices ringing in their ears. They’ll be gathering with the knowledge that more people than ever are taking to the streets demanding action, not just words, to protect the future of our planet. We showcased our strength, our resiliency, and our capacity to come together when needed–whether that means in the streets or in prayerful support.

The entire weekend was filled with incredible photographs. We’ve put together a gallery of some of our favorites for you to see.
