October 5: National Day for Human Dignity and Respect for ALL

Sisters of St. Joseph, Associates, co-ministers,and friends attended rallies in Brentwood, Brooklyn, and New York to demand dignity and respect for ALL families, and to call on Congress to pass immigration reform this year. More than 160 rallies were planned throughout the United States.

Karina Claudio-Betancourt (Academia Maria Reina, Class of 2002) was the lead organizer for the Brentwood event. Karina is a community organizer for Make the Road New York (MRNY). An organization that builds the power of Latino and working class communities to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, transformative education, and survival services.

S. Kathleen Carberry, staff, and students from The Learning Connection also participated in the event.
