Outdoor Earth Liturgy Closing the Season of Creation

The Season of Creation for 2021ended on the feast of St. Francis October 4th. It was marked on our Brentwood campus on the prior Sunday with the celebration of an outdoor earth liturgy incorporating our connection with the sacred community of Earth. Prayers of repentance were offered for our destructive abuse of Earth, and prayers of commitment were offered for the work of preserving the bounties of Earth for future generations. There was the sharing of bread baked from the wheat grown by the Garden Ministry as a sign of our unity. A procession including children, farm animals and vegetables from our farm what we are committed to saving and preserving. The blessing of our goats and other animals brought by participants indicated our care and connection with them. The beatutiful weather and live music and song added to the celebration.
