Peconic Land Trust
Staff and Board members from the Peconic Land Trust visited our Brentwood campus on Monday, Nov. 14. The purpose of the visit was to tour our property and use space in the Academy Library for the PLT Board/Staff Semiannual Meeting. The group of 35 also included a few benefactors and a consultant. Sisters Clara Santoro, Joan Gallagher, and Karen Burke greeted the group and led everyone on a tour of Sacred Heart Chapel. Dan Heston, Senior PLT farmer, shared important information about our land and the farming initiatives as we took a one hour walking tour of the property. Everyone was very excited to join our sisters in the dining room for lunch. After lunch the group viewed the Land Ethic video and S. Helen Kearney welcomed everyone to Brentwood and discussed some of our land initiatives. The day continued with the PLT semi-annual Staff and Baord meeting.
A message of gratitude from Julie Zaykowski, PLT Director of Administration: “We all had the most wonderful and inspiring time yesterday visiting the Sisters of Saint Joseph! Thank you to all who had a part in the warm and welcoming reception, delicious lunch, and amazing tour. Your track record in and for the community is quite impressive and a model for others. Although we’ve all heard reports back from Kim and Dan about the project work, nothing replaces actually being there – seeing and feeling the impact ourselves. Thank you again and with much appreciation.”
