Human trafficking hits home 1/9/14

Trafficking in human beings has become the most profitable criminal activity in the world.

That finding comes from a panel of experts assembled by Pope Francis. He has condemned human trafficking as a crime against humanity.

The Holy Father’s experience with the awful practice is first-hand from his days as Archbishop of Buenos Aires when he directly opposed the traffickers.

On the streets of New York City, a Catholic nun is at work fighting against the criminals who exploit women.

She is especially focused on next month’s Super Bowl that is coming to the Meadowlands.

Currents correspondent Katie Breidenbach has more on her work but, first, Katie reintroduces us to an impressive young woman who appeared on Currents last May to tell us about the rocky road to recovery after living through the hell of the human traffickers.
