The Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world’s financial system. This year’s events took place in Washington, D.C., April 8-14, 2019.
Sister Janet Kinney attended. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director and Chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund, moderated the event that looked at the past 75 years of global financial work and where we are today in terms of “international cooperation.” She heard top economists speak about the future of the global economy. She also attended sessions moderated by Christine Lagarde. An informative session was a dialogue between Christine Lagarde and David Attenborough on Nature and the Economy. There were also sessions on climate change.
