Sister John Raymond honored by St. John’s University

Donald J. Harrington, CM., President

Sr. John Raymond McGann, C.S.J. 232 Clinton Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11205

Dear Sister John Raymond:

As you may realize, 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of your doctoral degree from St. John’s University. During those 50 years you have represented St John’s very well as an alumna and as a woman of the Church. We are indeed proud of you, Sister John Raymond, and deeply proud of the special contributions you have made to the Church.

In recognition of this anniversary and your outstanding ministry, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to confer an honorary doctoral degree upon you. It is a great joy for me to notify you of this action.

I would like to confer this degree, Sister John Raymond, at our Alumni Convocation to be held on Friday evening, May 31, 2013 here on our Queens campus. The Convocation will be held in St. Thomas More Church at 8:00 pm. The celebration will be preceded by a special dinner for all of our honorees on that occasion. It is my hope that you will not only accept this honor from us, but that your family and religious sisters will also be able to join us for the dinner and the Convocation.

I am sure you will recall, Sister John Raymond, that I was Executive Vice President at Niagara when you and your brother were honored by the University. Now, almost 30 years later, it is a special joy for me to once again be able to confer an honorary doctoral degree upon you. You are indeed a special woman and a special daughter of St. John’s.

Most sincerely,

Donald J. Harrington, CM. President

St. John’s University
