TMLA Group Works to Restore Ecosystem at Seagirt Avenue Wetlands, Far Rockaway
Members of the Mary Louis Academy’s Service, Learning, and Leadership Program volunteered on Nov. 20 at Seagirt Avenue Wetlands in Far Rockaway. Twelve students, alongside SLL Advisors Mrs. Josephine Russo and Ms. Ali Pepe, planted new grasses, put up a goose fence, and cut back an invasive species in order to restore the ecosystem at Seagirt. This event aligns with the environmental focus of the SLL Program, as well as the ecology efforts being made by the Sisters of St. Joseph. A special thank you to Alumna Hannah Mrskovcic, Class of 2013, for her assistance in organizing this event through the NYC Parks Department!!
