Reflection

There is something within us that is drawn to the Incomprehensible Mystery we call God. We turn to this God in moments of sadness and joy believing that we are loved and will never be rejected. We praise God in the wonder of the natural world, in the love we experience, and in our desire for inner peace. At our very best, this desire for union with the One in whom all are united enables us to extend our love and compassion to all who live and move and have their being in the Source of all that is.

Prayer

My eyes are fixed on you, O God.
Psalm 141:8

Action

Reflect on you own desire for intimacy with the Mystery we call God. What are the implications of that? How are you called to live in relationship with all others of every kind? How does this compare with the daily rhetoric of political voices?

Prayer is sitting in the silence until it silences us, choosing gratitude until we are grateful, praising God until we ourselves are a constant act of praise.
Richard Rohr

Prayer makes us aware of the elements of the divine in human life, bringing us into contact with the God-life in and around us. Prayer is not personal devotion; it is personal growth. Prayer brings us to the ultimate and the eternal, the daily and the regular, the total consciousness of God now.
Joan Chittister

Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.
Mahatma Gandhi

When we pray to God we must be seeking nothing — nothing.
Saint Francis of Assisi

God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.
