Reflection

There is no such thing as failure in the journey to the reign of God. Despite the rejection of today’s doers and shakers who want to do less and shake up nothing at all, the prophet wins the day, shaking up the heart one Gospel at a time. Those who do not do the journey can never know the beauty of discovering what it means to be  beyond the greed, outside the violence, beyond the entrapments of smallness of soul. Better to fail, in fact, than have missed the freedom of heart that comes with speaking Truth to those that seek to smother it. To follow the path of the prophet is to discover what it is to live driven by the wind of the Spirit to complete the work that the greatness of God has begun.
Joan Chittister, OSB
