Picture1We celebrate the life of Sister Kathryn Slevin, a Sister of Saint Joseph for nearly 56 years.

The Eucharist is a sacrament of the outpouring of God’s unconditional love for us and for all creation. Kathy shared in that outpouring of love through her vowed commitment to this congregation. We strive to bring this love to all in need without distinction. By living lives that are simple, prayerful, courageous and compassionate we work to reveal God’s healing and reconciling love wherever we may be.

Kathy knew and trusted God’s love in her own life, depending on it when there were struggles and challenges. Through her ministry with children she brought them to understand God’s presence in their lives while developing their own abilities and talents. With her warmth, kindness and compassion she engaged in parish ministry and religious education in Inwood and Baldwin. Kathy provided pastoral care with excellence, tempered by gentleness and peace.

These past days have been filed with many challenges and doubts. But today we can all be certain that Kathy now enjoys the fullness of love she has had in her heart.

Sister Kathryn Slevin, CSJ died on June 26, 2015 in the 56th year of her religious life.
