Long Island Imagine Awards

Brentwood, NY — The Sisters of St. Joseph have been named a finalist for the Sustainability
and Environmental category at the 14th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards, recognizing their
longstanding commitment to ecological stewardship and care for creation.

Hosted by Cerini & Associates LLP, the Long Island Imagine Awards honor nonprofit
organizations that exemplify excellence in leadership, innovation, and community impact. New this year, the Sustainability and Environmental Award specifically celebrates organizations that demonstrate
measurable environmental responsibility and forward-thinking environmental initiatives.

For more than 375 years, the Sisters of St. Joseph have lived their mission of fostering unity and
serving the dear neighbor without distinction. In recent years, that mission has taken on renewed
urgency through their commitment to sustainability and the vision of one sacred Earth
community — embracing air, soil, water, plants, animals, and people as interconnected.

At their Brentwood Campus, the Sisters have implemented numerous environmental initiatives,
including the preservation of woodland acres, ecological land management practices, renewable
energy efforts, and educational programs that promote environmental awareness and advocacy.
Guided by their Land Ethic Statement, the Sisters continue to preserve, protect, and restore
creation for future generations.

“We are called to the land, who is our Dear Neighbor, and all who share it,” said Heather Coste, Director of Ecological Sustainability for the Sisters. “Being one of the finalists for the Imagine Award’s inaugural round of the Sustainability and Environmental category is an honor we share with some incredible organizations doing incredible work. It is humbling to know that the actions we are taking here are ones that resonate across Long Island to new friends and neighbors we have yet to know and meet.”

Award recipients will be announced at the 14th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards ceremony,
where nonprofit leaders from across Long Island will gather to celebrate the impact and
innovation shaping the region.

The Sisters of St. Joseph remain steadfast in their mission to promote unity, justice, and
ecological responsibility, working toward a more sustainable and compassionate world.
