 Reflection

At that time Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted.
Matthew 4:1-11

Wildernesses come into our lives in many forms and usually at unexpected times. We don’t seek them out but somehow we find ourselves there. They are barren and lonesome and they sap our strength. We become fragile and vulnerable and that seems to be the time when our character is tested. It is the moment of choice. We can give in but, if we can move forward, we choose the freedom to walk out of the wilderness into life.

Prayer

A clean heart create for me, O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me.
Psalm 51

Action

Reflect on the times of wilderness in your own life. Where did they lead you?
