Life is precious. None of us can cause our lives to begin, nor can we choose that our lives be prolonged. We are awed by life’s beginning and tender with life’s ending. It is within our very nature to nurture life, to protect it and to respect it. Life is a gift we all receive and journey we travel for a span of years. Let us be respectful of each life and protective of each person.
May we be grateful and reverent of the gift of life. May we protect it not only in the human but also in all living creatures and with respect for the earth without which no life can exist.
Reflect on the meaning of respect for all life. Choose to support means which safeguard the unborn and the born with equal compassion and reverence.
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.\
All life has inestimable value even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.
If personal and social sensitivity in welcoming a new life is lost, other forms of welcome useful to social life will dry up.
The promotion of the culture of life should be the highest priority in our societies…If the right to life is not defended decisively as a condition for all other rights of the person, all other references to human rights remain deceitful and illusory.
Pope John Paul II
God’s love does not distinguish between the infant in the mother’s womb or the child or the youth or the adult or the older person. In each one God sees His image and likeness. Human life is a manifestation of God and His glory.
Pope Benedict XVI
Each old person, even if infirm or at the end of his or her days, bears the face of Christ. They cannot be discarded.
Life is a gift, given in trust – like a child.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Every day, God grants us the precious gift of life. Yet every day, we squander it with our selfish, petty concerns, rather than helping someone as God helps us.
Always thank God for the gift of life.
