Reflection

From our earliest conscious existence, we humans have always been drawn to God. Christians have found God through Jesus.  Over the centuries, we have given God many forms and many names. In the 21st century we no longer think of an up or down world with an aged patriarch God who keeps tabs on us. God is the Holy Mystery whose presence is revealed in all, who sustains all, and who loves us and all creation just as we are.  Our spirituality is steeped in this God beyond all names. We pray to learn to love as God loves – freely and gratuitously, to try to love with a selfless love that makes no demands.  It is the love of seekers based in the confidence that God is the One who is our source and our fulfillment. It results in a genuine caring for all others who share in God’s unconditional ever-creating love.

Prayer

Grant that I may not so much seek to be loved as to love.

Action

Try to absorb what it means to live in a quantum universe of constant change rather than in the up and down world to which traditional beliefs referred.  What are the implications to your concept of God? How does it affect your beliefs and actions?
