Reflection

Continued growth in spirituality helps us to live aware of the presence of God throughout the day.  It draws us to live a more peaceful life where the neighbor is loved and inclinations toward violence, prejudice, and revenge are yielded to the grace of God. There is a greater understanding of our prophetic task especially as it involves participation in God’s work to overcome social evil. Spiritual maturity enables us  to share the Good News of Christ more boldly and powerfully, in word and action with those we meet in our day to day living.

Prayer

Enable me to live a life true to my stated beliefs..

Action

Reflect on what it means to live a mature spiritual life true to the gospel of Jesus. How does that impact your day to day living?

Brothers and sisters:
From the day we heard about you, we do not cease praying for you
and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will
through all spiritual wisdom and understanding
to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord,
so as to be fully pleasing, in every good work bearing fruit
and growing in the knowledge of God,
strengthened with every power, in accord with Christ’s glorious might,
for all endurance and patience,
with joy giving thanks to God, who has made you fit to share
in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.
God delivered us from the power of darkness
and transferred us to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Col 1:9-14

Radical obedience to Christ is not easy… It’s not comfort, not health, not wealth, and not prosperity in this world. Radical obedience to Christ risks losing all these things. But in the end, such risk finds its reward in Christ. And he is more than enough for us.
David Platt

We live by revelation, as Christians, as artists, which means we must be careful never to get set into rigid molds. The minute we begin to think we know all the answers, we forget the questions, and we become smug like the Pharisee who listed all his considerable virtues, and thanked God that he was not like other men.
Madalene L’Engle

When we are securely rooted in personal intimacy with the source of life, it will be possible to remain flexible without being relativistic, convinced without being rigid, willing to confront without being offensive, gentle and forgiving without being soft, and true witnesses without being manipulative.
Henri J.M. Nouwen

Remember as you go about your day that you may be the only Jesus some of your friends, neighbors, and family will ever see.
Wanda E. Brunstetter

Conviction is worthless unless it is converted into conduct.
Thomas Carlyle
