Reflection

Forgetful of who we are, we live out of ignorance instead of wisdom, fear instead of love, and fantasy instead of reality. The more we forget that the image of God is the deepest reality within us, the less we delve into those inner depths for the gifts of God. The less we make use of the spiritual resources implanted at the heart of our being, the more we come to believe that they are not there. And the less that we believe that such riches are within us, the more we treat ourselves and others with lack of respect.
The Book of Creation, J. Philip Newell

Prayer

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people
and enkindle in us the fire of your love.

Action

I will try to remember that I am made in the image of God and to treat others with the respect they deserve.

Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from Your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depth, You are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me.  Your right had will hold me fast.
