This weekend, in our hemisphere, we celebrated the resurrection of the earth. Light and darkness were brought into balance.Earth is warming itself. Life is stirring. As the days grow longer, our hope for personal resurrection and rebirth is renewed. Our senses need to be attuned to the emerging life that is pushing up through the earth. Each seed that germinates, each leaf that unfurls, each nest that is built, each little furry creature that is born is a miracle. Let us not miss the wonder and beauty of Springtime. It is delightful and it teaches us that death is one stage in the unfolding Mystery we call Life. Spring teaches us that nothing dies completely.
May Spring renew me and recreate life in me.
Do not allow yourself to miss the renewal of Springtime. Open yourself to new growth and to unity with the beauty of God’s creation.
You have cared for the land and watered it
Greatly you have enriched it
The streams are filled
You have provided the grain
Thus have you prepared the land
Drenching its furrows
Breaking up its clods
Softening it with showers
Blessing its yield.
The meadows overflow
And gladness clothes the hills.
The fields are arrayed with flocks
And the valleys blanketed with grain.
They shout and sing for joy.
Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world.
Virgil A. Kraft
Spring is when life’s alive in everything.
Every Spring is the only Spring – a perpetual astonishment.
Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.
Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.
Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!
Spring is sooner recognized by plants than by men.
I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature’s rebirth?
The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.
Spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
and fro moving New and
Old things, while
people stare carefully
moving a perhaps
fraction of flower here placing
an inch of air there)and
without breaking anything.
