Reflection

An inability or unwillingness to listen is a symptom of self-centeredness. Listening involves attention, to being sincerely present to another. Listening enables us to tune in to others and to our inner voices of intuition and conscience. It is how we know we are part of the world around us and signals that we are not shut up in ourselves and are willing to communicate. A listening heart is transparent and willing to exchange truthfully with others and to accept their wisdom. Listening with interest tells another that he/she is important .It is open to the revelation of God that comes through people and the natural world.

Prayer

Grant to me, O Lord, a heart renewed. Fill me with your Spirit of truth.

Action

Tune in to the messages coming to you not only from people but from all directions and multiple levels of experience. Listen to an animal, the waves on the beach, or the roar of a city neighborhood, and you will come to a greater appreciation of your place in the universe.
