The gospel message leads us to unity in the midst of diversity. Diversity makes working out unity more challenging. Unity can have a powerful impact in a fractured world desperately in need of reconciliation and healing. The unity of God’s people flows from the unity that exists in God. Jesus prayed for the unity of those who would believe in him through the witness of his followers. It is our calling to work toward living a life of union with others based in Jesus’ teachings. Commitment to them enables us to infuse an authentic and conscious belief in love and reconciliation into this world’s consciousness.
That all may be one.
What does unity in diversity mean to me? Do I accept differences? Do I appreciate the richness of diversity? What can I do to foster unity among people?
I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be one in us.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Now I plead with you by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10
We are already one. But we imagine that we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity. What we have to be is what we are.
Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
The more a person becomes spiritually minded or advances towards God, the more tolerant he becomes and the less differentiation he sees.
You are the people who are shaping a better world.
Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.
We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race.
There are no nations! There is only humanity. And if we don’t come to understand that right soon, there will be no nations, because there will be no humanity.
