Forgetful of who we are, we live out of ignorance instead of wisdom, fear instead of love, and fantasy instead of reality. The more we forget that the image of God is the deepest reality within us, the less we delve into those inner depths for the gifts of God. The less we make use of the spiritual resources implanted at the heart of our being, the more we come to believe that they are not there. And the less that we believe that such riches are within us, the more we treat ourselves and others with lack of respect.
The Book of Creation, J. Philip Newell
Come Holy Spirit enkindle in us the fire of your love.
I will work to remember that the Creative Spirit is revealed in all that exists and treat all with the respect they deserve.
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple? God’s Spirit lives in you.
1 Corinthians 3:16
We are made in the image of God; we carry within us the desire for our true life of intimacy and adventure. To say we want less than that is to lie.
God is that infinite All of which man knows himself to be a finite part.
I cannot help thinking that the best way of knowing God is to love many things. Love this friend, this person, this thing, whatever you like, and you will be on the right road to understanding God better.
Vincent Van Gogh
God’s beneficence streams out from the morning sun, and his love looks down upon us from the starry eyes of midnight. It is his solicitude that wraps us in the air, and the pressure of his hand, so to speak, that keeps our pulses beating. O! it is a great thing to realize that the Divine Power is always working; that nature, in every valve and every artery, is full of the presence of God.
You will never cease to be the most amazed person on earth at what God has done for you on the inside.
God gave us faculties for our use; each of them will receive its proper reward. Then do not let us try to charm them to sleep, but permit them to do their work until divinely called to something higher.
Saint Teresa of Avila
When you’re a beautiful person on the inside, nothing in the world can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one’s lack of self-confidence, self-worth, and self-acceptance. The Lesson: If you can’t accept yourself, then certainly no one else will.
Treat everyone you meet as though they are the most important person you’ll meet today.
A little less hypocrisy and a little more tolerance towards oneself can only have good results in respect for our neighbor; for we are all too prone to transfer to our fellows the injustice and violence we inflict upon our own natures.
Carl Gustav Jung
