Faith grows as we mature in our spiritual life. It gives us the impetus through the Spirit who dwells within us, to join with others in trying to bring about positive change in ourselves and in our church and country. The gospel challenge for those of us who try to live a Christian life is to put our faith into action. When we look at all the pain, sorrow, poverty, tragedy, suffering and divisions in the world today, our courage is tested. How many of us truly believe that our faith can uproot trees or move mountains? Yet, this is the analogy Jesus made.
Give us faith that will energize us.
Put your faith into action. Join others who seek to enable the reign of God in our church and country.
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.
Luke 17: 5-10
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.
Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.
Faith is not something to grasp, it is a state to grow into.
If God can work through me, God can work through anyone.
Francis of Assisi
Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.
