Feast of the Angels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel

A few years ago, there was a resurgence in interest and belief in angels with many books being published about the place of angels in our lives. Angels are mentioned more than 300 times in scripture. They are usually depicted as messengers from God in human form. Perhaps the greatest benefit of this renewed interest was to make us stop and think about the “angels” in our daily lives – family, friends, colleagues, sometimes even strangers – who speak a comforting word, spend some time with us or who even challenge us to go beyond and take a risk. The presence of these “angels”, is another reminder that we are not alone but that the voice of God can be heard in many ways.

May I be attuned, O God, to the insights and inspirations You send me through all who are Your special messengers.

Spend some time today thanking God for those people in your life who inspire you and lead you closer to God.
