Please note that organizations serving as fiscal agents for the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY, are not eligible to apply for grants from the Legacy Fund. Our priority is to support independent, mission-aligned organizations that are actively working to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Grants will only be awarded for projects that directly benefit communities in the New York State counties of Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Nassau, Suffolk, or Puerto Rico. All programs must demonstrate measurable outcomes over time to ensure long-term impact and effectiveness.

To ensure transparency and accountability, applicants must provide at least two of their most recent financial statements for review. This includes documents such as balance sheets, income statements, or cash flow statements. Providing these financial statements is essential to demonstrate the fiscal health and sustainability of your organization. We require this information to ensure that the funds are being managed responsibly and effectively in alignment with the mission of the Legacy Fund.

Yes, we need reporting to make sure that grant funds are used in alignment with your organization's mission and stated goals.

No. Renewals or future grants will not be awarded to an organization that has not completed a final report for a prior grant.

Yes. An interim six-month progress report is required for any grant of $25,000 or more.

A final report is required for all grants awarded and must be signed by an officer of the Grantee Organization.

Reports must include progress against goals, completed activities, and spending by category to date.
