Ways To Join Us

The call is ‘of the Spirit’ when it touches what we feel we need most to do and what the world needs to have done.

We invite you to join us as we work to live out our mission of unity and service.

There are many ways to do this as part of a community of adults committed to living out the Gospel in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph. We welcome your membership not only as Sisters but also Associates, St. Joseph Worker members, or Volunteers.

As a Sister

Membership in the Sisters of St. Joseph is a decision that results from a woman’s response to her relationship with God. The focus of this relationship is intimacy with God, God’s people and care for all God’s creation. It is a commitment to live a vowed life in community and participate in its mission to unite all in God’s love.

We welcome any woman who is interested to begin conversation with S. Marie Mackey, Director of the Office of Young Adult Ministry and Vocational Discernment, at 718 – 791 – 7911.

As an Associate

Associates are women and men who join the Sisters of St. Joseph in their mission and share their charism without making a commitment to a vowed life.

If you seek a deeper love of God and neighbor and desire to be part of a praying, faith sharing and supportive community, you might want to consider becoming a CSJ Associate. Associates join the Sisters in ministries, Local Associate Communities, workshops, days of prayer, retreats and community gatherings.

St. Joseph Worker Program

The St. Joseph Worker Program is a new ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph. St. Joseph Workers are women committed to social change who live according to the Catholic Volunteer Network values of community, social justice, spirituality and leadership.

Women live in an intentional community, volunteer in a variety of sites focused on social justice and help to meet the needs of those living in poverty. During the course of their volunteer year they become part of the Sisters of St. Joseph and as alumnae, they continue the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph as they live out the gospel in their many different jobs, ministries and life choices. The SJW Program operates annually from August to June with workers serving at a variety of locations where Sisters of St. Joseph minister.
